Stops should have time settings for availability
Sometimes the planner will suggest that we stop at say the Smithsonian at nine-thirty at night. This isn't all that helpful.
What would be nice is the ability to assign an acceptable range of time to a stop -- not (just) a duration. If we could set 9am to 5pm as the range for the Smithsonian, then the planner could let us know that we won't arrive at the right time and help us change our plans.
6 votesMakes sense. For some stops (museums, parks, restaurants) we could even try to guess reasonable defaults.
BTW: in current version you can set ‘Start a day’ and ‘End a day’ values (check the `Trip` drawer). If you set them to ‘9am’ and ‘5pm’ Furkot will attempt to schedule all the stops accordingly. The drawback is that it will also schedule automatic overnight stops, but depending on your trip manipulating those values may make planning easier.

SERVER ISSUES
This website is neat. But the lag time between making a change and the server processing it is driving me crazy. Also, every time I try to add a hotel date in the middle of my route it tries to change it to the beginning of the route. Need to be able to force change arrival dates. When changing/editing descriptions, address, etc, you have to delete all the words just to change the first word.
1 voteFirst of all – thanks! Neat is what we are aiming for. We realize there are plenty of rough edges though ;-)
Sorry this is going to be a bit long: I wanted to comment on all the issues that you mentioned.
We did have some unnecessary delays when calculating route. It should have got better after today’s update.
That said, we did not have any reports of the server lag yet. But we may be biased: our hosting company is on the East Coast USA.
More importantly all the communication with the servers happens in the background. You should not see any delays using Furkot – adding steps, changing addresses, descriptions etc. If you do, there might be something else at play. Could you give a specific example of the delay that you saw – we’ll try to get to the bottom of it.Dates are calculated automatically,…

Print Map
Need any easy way to print map
7 votesQuite frankly, we didn’t plan on adding map printing since – no matter how well we can do that -printed map is not going to be as detailed and convenient as using phone or GPS device (we are planning to better support export to GPS devices and you can use Furkot on Android and Apple phones even today).
That said, maybe you can tell us more about how you are using Furkot and perhaps we can come up with some solution.

Updates don't save
I change the name of a location or input text in the text box and changes don't save even after I press "SAVE".
1 voteAre you by any chance using Internet Explorer with Furkot? If that’s the case could you try Chrome or Firefox. Some functions might not work with IE.
I’ll check if we can fix that.
Thanks for trying Furkot. -
Can you add a driving log report?
The print function creates a pretty good summary of the trip, but can you turn that into a log type of report or add the total trip summary information at the top or bottom so that I can use it to submit for work. Now I have to duplicate the entries. Exporting to excel would be a bonus but for now just total of trip would be very helpful.
1 voteFurkot now suppors exporting driving log in CSV format – to be used with various spreadsheet applications. Click on the Export button in the Trip drawer to display all export-able formats.
Try it out and let us know what you think. If you want Furkot to support any specific format send a sample to trips@furkot.com -
Will you be adding the abilty to export trips to Outlook Calendar?
I use your site to plan my road trips for work, but would also like to have it uploaded to my calendar so I have a history of my sales calls in outlook, where I track and keep notes.
As well, the ability to copy and create multiple trip from past trips would be great.2 votesCurrent version of Furkot allows downloading iCalendar (.ics) files.
At the moment we only support download + import model – most Calendar applications allow for importing .ics file, which adds events to your calendar. You need to re-export your file if something changes.
In future we will also add ‘Subscribe to trip Calendar’ option. You will be able to copy and paste URL that your Calendar application can use to stay in sync with trip changes.
To export .ics file click on the Export button in the Trip drawer
Let us know how it works for you. Thanks. -
Other UNITs
I miss a kilometer vs miles units.
1 voteYou can find unit selectors in the Trip drawer.

Can you plan fuel stops like hotel stops?
I'd like to be able to put my vehicle's fuel range (e.g, 300 miles/tank) and have the ability to click a Fuel tab that works like the sleep tab, only showing me gas stations near my tank limit. GasBuddy.com does something like that, but doesn't let me save my plan and/or print it.
Thanks for your consideration.
4 votesYup. We were thinking about something like that. Not sure about the time frame yet, but – watch this space ;-)

How do you save a map?? And how do you add days??
Hi - I am getting frustrated because each time I go into the maps that I've opened, I can't save changes (or can't find the instructions on how to)... Also, if I want to stay in say Vegas for 4 days, how do I add these to my trip plan? I want to see how long it will take me to do a full trip round USA...thanks
1 voteClick on your Las Vegas stop, the Plan drawer will open with Las Vegas stop expanded. Click on the duration field (it says 2 hours by default). Change that to 4 days (just typing 4d would work as well). Click orange save button. You should see your Las Vegas stop displayed as multi-day stop. The hotel icon representing a stop will get a little ‘+’ sign next to it. On the list you should see 4 stops – one for each day you spent in Las Vegas. In this way you can schedule attractions on the day between the stops – for example if you get tired of fancy hotels you can drive to Red Rock Canyon ;-)
You don’t need to do anything special to ‘save a map’ – all your changes are automatically saved.
Let us know if that helped, don’t hesitate to ask more questions if it… -
HOW TO START
Well tell me
1 voteWe are working on some videos and documents describing trip planning with furkot. However if you don’t even see the map UI (map or a screen with the list of trips), furkot might have problems running on your setup. Furkot runs best on Chrome and Firefox. For Internet Explorer users we recommend installing Chrome Frame plugin: http://www.google.com/chromeframe

Can you make an import option?
I will travel to europe and i'm lookfing for a site to help me to plan the trip. I don´t know the locations where i will stay so i want to create multiples maps with various routes, but some rotes will have the same strech. The programm is excelent and i hope you have success with the site! Sorry for the horrible english!
3 votesLooks like you want to be able to clone the trip that you planned to be able to work on another version of that trip. We are absolutely planning to add something like this. We are also thinking about ability to temporarily remove the stops from the route without removing them from the trip, which would make planning various variants of the trip easier. Adding imports from another sources is not out of question either: what applications or formats you had in mind?
Good luck with your Europe vacation. Thanks for using Furkot! -
Guest
I was going to look around and see if the map has features I would be interested in using before signing up. Unfortunate that the map and whatever features there are won't view to a guest. I hate to keep setting up another account Log-in to find it isn't what I'm looking for with the features I need for trip planning. I liked the start of it anyway, good potential maybe but allow the guest to play around with it a little.
